{"id":78536,"date":"2025-11-11T14:52:02","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T14:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=78536"},"modified":"2025-11-11T14:52:02","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T14:52:02","slug":"court-halts-pdp-national-convention-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/11\/court-halts-pdp-national-convention-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Halts PDP National Convention Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samuel Adeola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal High Court in Abuja has again stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from holding its national convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Peter Lifu issued the restraining order on Tuesday following a suit by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, who claimed the party denied him the chance to buy the nomination form for the national chairmanship.<\/p>\n<p>The judge said the PDP failed to publish a timetable for the exercise, violating legal procedures, and warned that ignoring due process could \u201cendanger the very foundation of democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The court barred the PDP from holding the convention anywhere and prohibited INEC from recognising its outcome.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the second recent court intervention, after a similar October order from Justice James Omotosho following complaints from other aggrieved PDP members.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on November 4, the Oyo State High Court had temporarily allowed the PDP to continue preparations, pending further hearings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Samuel Adeola The Federal High Court in Abuja has again stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from holding its national convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
