The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), says the Federal Government will soon unveil a new National Railway Development Roadmap to ensure rail connectivity across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).<\/p>\n
NRC Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, disclosed this at the Seventh National Transport Conference of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration, held Wednesday in Abuja.<\/p>\n
He said the plan aligns with President Bola Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda and follows legislative amendments that moved railway development to the concurrent list, allowing states to access national rail corridors at no extra cost.<\/p>\n
Opeifa noted that Lagos and Plateau States are already running services on existing corridors, while Ogun, Oyo, Edo, Delta, Kogi, Kaduna, Kano, and Niger States can connect to ongoing routes.<\/p>\n
He added that freight-by-rail operations are expanding, with movements of containerised cargo, gypsum, cement, and materials for the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline project.<\/p>\n
Opeifa also unveiled NRC\u2019s long-term Vision 2-5-10-20 plan, which targets asset optimisation in two years, electric traction in five, doubling capacity in ten, and achieving a 60,000km rail network within 20 years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
