The Governor of Imo State Hope Uzodimma has called for the setting up of 10 megawatts hydro-power plant to facilitate hitch-free supply of potable water to the residents.<\/p>\n
The governor made the submission when he received the minister of water resources and sanitation, Engr. Joseph Teriumun, at the Government House Owerri.<\/p>\n
Uzodimma told the minister that the proposed power plant would help to solve the problems of potable water shortage just as he sought the minister\u2019s intervention in completing some of the ongoing water projects in the state.<\/p>\n
Governor Uzodimma who exited said that the visit will add value to the people of Imo state, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his efforts towards the restoration of the economy of the country.<\/p>\n
The governor said, \u201cThe minister\u2019s visit is a clear evidence that he is out to work. He is about the first minister who has taken time to visit the parastatals and agencies under his ministry, particularly as it concerns Imo State since the constitution of the New Federal Executive Council under President Tinubu.\u201d<\/p>\n
The governor told his audience that \u201ethe journey between the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Imo State has been very interesting as the ministry has done a lot to provide access to quality water in the state.\u201c<\/p>\n
He said value has been added to the state through the implementation of the different water schemes since he came on board few\u00a0 years back.<\/p>\n
In his response, Teriumun said the main purpose of their visit is to \u201eundertake on the spot assessment of projects and programmes that the ministry is undertaking through the Anambra\/Imo River Basin Development Authority in the catchment states.\u201c<\/p>\n
He drew the governor\u2018s attention to the ministry\u2018s intervention projects in Imo, Anambra, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi states which cover water supply, irrigation schemes, dams and reservoirs, sanitation facilities and erosion control structures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
