{"id":77445,"date":"2025-10-25T10:06:55","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T10:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=77445"},"modified":"2025-10-25T10:06:55","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T10:06:55","slug":"customs-seizes-%e2%82%a65-3bn-worth-of-drugs-hidden-in-imported-vehicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/25\/customs-seizes-%e2%82%a65-3bn-worth-of-drugs-hidden-in-imported-vehicles\/","title":{"rendered":"Customs Seizes \u20a65.3bn Worth of Drugs Hidden in Imported Vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Sarah Sam Adda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Command, has intercepted two containers of vehicles used to conceal illicit drugs valued at \u20a65.3 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Comptroller Frank Onyeka, the Customs Area Controller, confirmed the seizures in Lagos on Friday, saying they followed intelligence-led operations and joint examinations with security agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The first container from Canada, intercepted on September 4, contained 156 packets of Colorado Indica and 1.2kg of Hashish Oil hidden in four vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The second, seized on October 24, held 2,081 packages of Cannabis Indica and eight packages of Crystal Methamphetamine, also concealed in vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Onyeka said the drugs had been handed over to the NDLEA for investigation and prosecution, commending the agency and other security partners for their collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>He urged importers to comply with trade laws, stressing the command\u2019s zero tolerance for smuggling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sarah Sam Adda &nbsp; The Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Command, has intercepted two containers of vehicles used to conceal illicit drugs valued at \u20a65.3 billion.
