The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), on Friday destroyed expired and substandard goods worth about \u20a625 million in Kaduna to safeguard public health and promote quality assurance.<\/p>\n
The items included 230 bags of expired sugar, soft drinks, milk, tomato pastes, and insecticides found unfit for consumption after laboratory tests.<\/p>\n
Deputy Director, North-West Region, Mr. Adamu Ahmed, said the destruction was part of SON\u2019s mandate to rid markets of unsafe products and protect consumers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are here to destroy substandard products that did not comply with required standards.<\/p>\n
“Their destruction ensures consumers do not unknowingly use items that could endanger their health,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Ahmed warned manufacturers and importers against compromising quality and commended compliant companies for adhering to national standards.<\/p>\n
Officials from the DSS, Police, NSCDC, NESREA, KEPA, and Kaduna State Government witnessed the exercise.<\/p>\n
NESREA State Coordinator, Mr. Hena Dangari, lauded SON\u2019s consistency and urged Nigerians to report suspicious products, while KEPA pledged continued collaboration to ensure environmental safety.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
