{"id":77371,"date":"2025-10-24T11:59:38","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T11:59:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=77371"},"modified":"2025-10-24T11:59:38","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T11:59:38","slug":"ondo-govt-probes-ownership-of-truck-in-fatal-akungba-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/24\/ondo-govt-probes-ownership-of-truck-in-fatal-akungba-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Ondo Govt Probes Ownership of Truck in Fatal Akungba Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Ondo State Government has begun an investigation to identify the owners of the truck involved in the Akungba-Akoko accident that claimed several lives.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo (SAN), described the incident as \u201cheartbreaking and unacceptable,\u201d vowing that both the driver and the truck owners would face full prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>The crash, which occurred on Wednesday along the Owo-Akungba-Ikare Akoko Expressway, killed 10 people, including a pregnant woman, after the truck reportedly lost control and rammed into shops.<\/p>\n<p>Ajulo said the probe aims to establish the vehicle\u2019s true ownership amid claims linking it to the Dangote Group, which the company has denied.<\/p>\n<p>He condemned the rising cases of fatal crashes involving heavy-duty vehicles, warning that henceforth, both negligent drivers and their companies would be held vicariously liable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnough is enough.
