{"id":77368,"date":"2025-10-24T11:58:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T11:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=77368"},"modified":"2025-10-24T11:58:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T11:58:09","slug":"efcc-recovers-%e2%82%a6566bn-411m-1502-properties-in-two-years-olukoyede","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/24\/efcc-recovers-%e2%82%a6566bn-411m-1502-properties-in-two-years-olukoyede\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC Recovers \u20a6566bn, $411m, 1,502 Properties in Two Years -Olukoyede"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), says it has recovered over \u20a6566 billion, $411 million, and 1,502 properties in the last two years under its Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.<\/p>\n<p>Olukoyede, represented by Director of Public Affairs Wilson Uwujaren, disclosed this in Abuja during a press briefing marking his second year in office.<\/p>\n<p>Between October 2023 and September 2025, the EFCC received 19,000 petitions, conducted 29,240 investigations, filed 10,525 cases, and secured 7,503 convictions.<\/p>\n<p>He said the recoveries included \u20a6566.3 billion, $411.6 million, \u00a371,306, and \u20ac182,877 traced to proceeds of financial crimes, alongside 1,502 non-monetary assets, notably 753 duplexes in Lokogoma, Abuja, and Nok University, now the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p>Olukoyede listed high-profile cases involving ex-governors Willie Obiano, Yahaya Bello, Theodore Orji, and former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, among others.<\/p>\n<p>He added that 55 EFCC officers were dismissed for misconduct, while diligent staff were rewarded with promotions and welfare support.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC boss reaffirmed his commitment to corruption prevention through the Fraud Risk Assessment and Control Unit (FRAC), stressing that \u201cprevention is more cost-effective than enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Huldah Shado &nbsp; The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), says it has recovered over \u20a6566 billion, $411 million, and 1,502 properties in the last two years under its Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
