{"id":77321,"date":"2025-10-24T05:36:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T05:36:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=77321"},"modified":"2025-10-24T05:36:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T05:36:14","slug":"fcta-warns-abuja-schools-against-blocking-vaccination-teams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/24\/fcta-warns-abuja-schools-against-blocking-vaccination-teams\/","title":{"rendered":"FCTA Warns Abuja Schools Against Blocking Vaccination Teams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has warned schools against denying vaccination teams access, calling such actions a violation of children\u2019s rights under the Child Rights Act 2003 and a public health risk.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, Mandate Secretary of the Health Services and Environment Secretariat, said several schools had refused entry during the ongoing Measles-Rubella, Polio, and HPV campaign (October 2025-February 2026), depriving children of protection from preventable diseases.<\/p>\n<p>To enforce compliance, the FCTA has listed non-compliant schools, launched advocacy efforts, and will conduct a three-day mop-up exercise with 132 vaccination teams.<\/p>\n<p>Schools are required to verify immunisation during admissions, maintain a Child Health Register, collaborate with Primary Health Care Centres, and submit monthly compliance reports.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Rufai Garba of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency condemned vaccine refusal as a \u201cdangerous act,\u201d warning of avoidable health crises.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign was flagged off on October 6 by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to ensure no child is left unprotected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has warned schools against denying vaccination teams access, calling such actions a violation of children\u2019s rights under the Child Rights Act 2003 and a public health risk.
