{"id":77232,"date":"2025-10-23T11:40:49","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T11:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=77232"},"modified":"2025-10-23T11:40:49","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T11:40:49","slug":"unn-denies-admission-fraud-allegations-reaffirms-transparency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/23\/unn-denies-admission-fraud-allegations-reaffirms-transparency\/","title":{"rendered":"UNN Denies Admission Fraud Allegations, Reaffirms Transparency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Sarah Sam Adda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has dismissed allegations of irregularities in its 2025\/2026 admission process, describing them as false and malicious.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Thursday, the university\u2019s Public Relations Officer, Inya Egwu, said all admissions are monitored by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to ensure transparency and fairness.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that UNN adheres to the national quota system, 45% Merit, 35% Catchment Areas, and 20% Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS) and that cut-off marks were applied accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Egwu also refuted claims that fewer than ten candidates scored above 338 in Medicine and Surgery, revealing that over 600 candidates scored above 300.<\/p>\n<p>He said the admission list was compiled and approved through due process by faculty deans and the Committee of Deans, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya.<\/p>\n<p>UNN urged the public to disregard false reports and rely only on official university information, reaffirming its commitment to integrity, fairness, and merit-based admissions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sarah Sam Adda &nbsp; The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has dismissed allegations of irregularities in its 2025\/2026 admission process, describing them as false and malicious.
