The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has launched the Customs Verification Management System (CVMS), a digital platform designed to curb vehicle smuggling and enhance transparency in clearance processes.<\/p>\n
Unveiling the system in Abuja, Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi described the initiative as a major step in the Service\u2019s modernization drive.<\/p>\n
Developed in partnership with the Trade Modernisation Project and Afripoint Consult, the CVMS allows users to verify vehicle clearance status using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), for a \u20a615,000 fee.<\/p>\n
Adeniyi said the platform would empower citizens, importers, and dealers with verifiable data while eliminating fraud and manual bottlenecks.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the first time, Nigerians can verify the clearance status of any imported vehicle without intermediaries or delays,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
Afripoint\u2019s Managing Director, Ajibola Adetula, hailed the system as a \u201cgame-changer for transparency,\u201d while the Motor Dealers Association described it as long overdue.<\/p>\n
