{"id":76993,"date":"2025-10-21T05:48:48","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T05:48:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=76993"},"modified":"2025-10-21T05:48:48","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T05:48:48","slug":"fg-targets-20000-jobs-annually-as-shettima-launches-jubilee-fellows-programme-2-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/21\/fg-targets-20000-jobs-annually-as-shettima-launches-jubilee-fellows-programme-2-0\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Targets 20,000 Jobs Annually as Shettima Launches Jubilee Fellows Programme 2.0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government plans to create at least 20,000 jobs yearly through the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), 2.0, a flagship youth empowerment initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and employment.<\/p>\n<p>Vice President Kashim Shettima will formally flag off the second phase of the programme on Tuesday in Abuja, in line with President Bola Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>He will also open a High-Level Policy Dialogue on Job Creation themed \u201cFrom Skills to Jobs and Enterprises: Driving Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship in Key Economic Sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the event, Shettima on Monday inaugurated the NJFP 2.0 Project Steering Committee at the Presidential Villa, urging members to ensure inclusivity and national reach.<\/p>\n<p>Implemented by the UNDP and funded by the European Union, the NJFP was first launched in 2022 and has empowered over 14,000 young Nigerians through 12-month paid fellowships that provide work experience and mentorship.<\/p>\n<p>Shettima described the initiative as \u201ca deliberate attempt to translate the nation\u2019s demographic strength into productive economic power,\u201d stressing that inclusivity and impact must guide its implementation.<\/p>\n<p>EU Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Gautier Mignot, and UNDP Resident Representative, Ms. Elsie Attafuah, expressed confidence that the revamped NJFP would create sustainable pathways for Nigerian youths to thrive in key sectors such as agriculture, technology, renewable energy, manufacturing, and the creative industries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Omoniyi David The Federal Government plans to create at least 20,000 jobs yearly through the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), 2.0, a flagship youth empowerment initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and employment.
