The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has launched a contactless biometric system that enables instant issuance of driver\u2019s licences, marking a major leap toward full digitalisation in Nigeria\u2019s motor vehicle administration.<\/p>\n
Unveiling the system at the 2025 Ember Months Road Safety Campaign in Abuja, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said the innovation would eliminate delays and the use of temporary licences.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this upgrade, applicants will be captured and issued their driver\u2019s licences instantly. No more temporary licences or long waiting periods,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mohammed noted that the FRSC\u2019s new printing facility now produces up to 15,000 licences daily, a capacity expected to clear all backlogs by November 2025.<\/p>\n
He added that the contactless technology, developed in partnership with state governments, integrates driving schools, VIOs, and certification systems to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.<\/p>\n
