The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned participants in the planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest to avoid vandalism and destruction of property.<\/p>\n
In a statement by the Command\u2019s spokesperson, DSC Monica Ojobi, the FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, urged demonstrators to comply with court directives governing the protest.<\/p>\n
Odumosu stressed that while citizens have the right to peaceful assembly, any act of violence or damage to public or private property would be met with firm action.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Corps will not tolerate destruction or theft of critical infrastructure under the guise of protest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He assured residents that personnel have been deployed across the FCT to protect lives, property, and key installations, adding that officers were instructed to act professionally and avoid intimidating peaceful protesters.<\/p>\n
Odumosu, however, warned that anyone attempting to hijack the protest for criminal purposes would be promptly apprehended.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
