{"id":76817,"date":"2025-10-16T22:43:54","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T22:43:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=76817"},"modified":"2025-10-16T22:43:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T22:43:54","slug":"saudi-cuts-nigerias-hajj-slots-for-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/16\/saudi-cuts-nigerias-hajj-slots-for-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Saudi Cuts Nigeria\u2019s Hajj Slots for 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Samuel Adeola<\/p>\n<p>The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has expressed concern over Saudi Arabia\u2019s decision to reduce Nigeria\u2019s 2026 Hajj allocation from 95,000 to 66,910 slots.<\/p>\n<p>NAHCON said the cut, reflected on Saudi Arabia\u2019s NUSUK Masar portal, was imposed as a penalty for Nigeria\u2019s failure to utilise all its 2025 slots, only about 59,000 of 95,000 were used.<\/p>\n<p>Of the new allocation, 51,513 slots will go to states and officials, while 15,397 are reserved for private tour operators.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner of Operations, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, warned that states that underperformed in 2025 would face further reductions.<\/p>\n<p>NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Usman, urged unity and early remittance ahead of the December 21 deadline, stressing that \u201cteamwork is key to a successful 2026 Hajj.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Commission also said it is negotiating to cut certain cost components amid forex pressures and reiterated Saudi Arabia\u2019s strict medical screening requirements for intending pilgrims.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Samuel Adeola The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has expressed concern over Saudi Arabia\u2019s decision to reduce Nigeria\u2019s 2026 Hajj allocation from 95,000 to 66,910 slots.
