The Federal Government has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to suspend its two-week warning strike, insisting that all the union\u2019s demands have been addressed.<\/p>\n
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made the appeal on Channels Television on Monday, saying there was \u201cno justification\u201d for the industrial action as the government had met \u201cevery single request\u201d presented by ASUU.<\/p>\n
ASUU declared the strike on Sunday, accusing the government of failing to honour previous agreements.<\/p>\n
The action took effect from midnight on Monday, October 13, 2025, after a 14-day notice expired.<\/p>\n
Alausa said the government had paid \u20a650 billion in earned academic allowances and budgeted \u20a6683 billion for rehabilitation of hostels, lecture halls, and laboratories across tertiary institutions.<\/p>\n
He added that funds were also provided for staff training and student support through the National Education Revitalisation Fund.<\/p>\n
The minister urged ASUU to return to classrooms, assuring students and parents that President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration remains committed to a stable academic calendar.<\/p>\n
