{"id":76255,"date":"2025-10-08T12:26:55","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T12:26:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=76255"},"modified":"2025-10-08T12:26:55","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T12:26:55","slug":"inec-extends-fct-voter-registration-by-four-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/08\/inec-extends-fct-voter-registration-by-four-days\/","title":{"rendered":"INEC Extends FCT Voter Registration by Four Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has extended the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), by four days.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Wednesday, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, said the exercise initially slated to end on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 will now continue until Sunday, October 12, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>INEC said the extension followed a review of progress during its Third Quarterly Meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners and was aimed at accommodating the increasing turnout of eligible voters across the FCT.<\/p>\n<p>As of October 7, the commission recorded 55,346 new registrations, including 38,528 online pre-registrations and 16,818 completed physical registrations.<\/p>\n<p>INEC urged eligible residents to take advantage of the extension and warned against multiple registrations, stressing that such acts are punishable under the law.<\/p>\n<p>The commission reaffirmed that the FCT Area Council elections will hold on Saturday, February 21, 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Huldah Shado &nbsp; The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has extended the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), by four days.
