Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has called on the Lagos State Government to prosecute his daughter-in-law, Omowunmi Aloba, and others indicted in the Coroner\u2019s Inquest into his son\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

The demand was made in a letter addressed to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, by Aloba\u2019s legal counsel, Wahab Shittu (SAN).<\/p>\n

The letter also urged the government to prosecute Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who administered an injection to Mohbad shortly before his death.<\/p>\n

The call for legal action comes more than two months after the Coroner\u2019s verdict on July 11, 2025, which described the nurse\u2019s actions as both \u201cunlawful and professionally negligent.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Coroner, Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi, recommended criminal prosecution of Ogedengbe for medical negligence, citing her decision to give an injection without a doctor\u2019s prescription.<\/p>\n

The Coroner also faulted Omowunmi Aloba, Mohbad\u2019s wife, for failing to take the singer to a hospital, instead opting for treatment at home an action deemed inappropriate under the circumstances.<\/p>\n

Despite these findings, the Lagos State Government has not yet filed any charges against the individuals identified in the inquest.<\/p>\n

Aloba\u2019s lawyer expressed concern over this inaction, describing it as troubling in light of the judicial recommendations and public interest in the case.<\/p>\n

Shittu urged the Attorney-General to initiate criminal proceedings within 14 days, warning that failure to act would compel the family to seek a fiat (official permission) to privately prosecute the individuals on behalf of the State under the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur client, as a bereaved father who seeks justice, is deeply troubled by the fact that, despite the clear indictments\u2026 no prosecutorial steps have been taken since the verdict was delivered,\u201d Shittu wrote.<\/p>\n

The letter emphasized the sensitivity of the case and its national attention, insisting that justice must be served without further delay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
