{"id":76071,"date":"2025-10-05T00:24:50","date_gmt":"2025-10-05T00:24:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=76071"},"modified":"2025-10-05T00:24:50","modified_gmt":"2025-10-05T00:24:50","slug":"wike-orders-24-7-commitment-from-officials-as-abuja-n2-transit-way-project-takes-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/05\/wike-orders-24-7-commitment-from-officials-as-abuja-n2-transit-way-project-takes-off\/","title":{"rendered":"Wike Orders 24\/7 Commitment from Officials as Abuja N2 Transit Way Project Takes Off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Thursday flagged off the construction of the N2 Transit Way, a key project designed to link Abuja\u2019s Central Area with the Wuse District.<\/p>\n<p>The project, which includes two new bridges, is part of the administration\u2019s efforts to modernize the capital city through improved road connectivity and urban infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Wike described the project as a major component of the FCT\u2019s infrastructure renewal drive and a flagship project to be showcased ahead of President Bola Tinubu\u2019s third anniversary in office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis road is one of the projects we are showcasing as part of our legacy. No city can develop without a good network of roads,\u201d the minister said, noting that quality infrastructure attracts investment and accelerates development.<\/p>\n<p>Wike cited the proposed \u201cAbuja City Walk\u201d by Dubai-based investors as evidence of growing international interest in the FCT, driven by the administration\u2019s infrastructural reforms.<\/p>\n<p>The minister, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work in certain sectors, warning that officials must be on duty round the clock to meet delivery timelines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour phones must be on at all times. If your phones are off, it means you\u2019re not ready for the job,\u201d Wike cautioned.<\/p>\n<p>He specifically queried delays in the construction of 12 new police stations across the city, warning that any official found to be slowing down progress would be replaced.<\/p>\n<p>Directing his remarks at the Director of Security, he said: \u201cWe are building not less than 12 police stations. Up till now, you have not come to tell me how many are ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Responding to critics of his administration, Wike maintained that opposition would not derail ongoing development projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll those who hate us are using the roads, the water, and the street lights,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, who was also present, described the N2 Transit Way as a milestone project that would ease traffic congestion and enhance mobility across the capital.<\/p>\n<p>The project is one of several strategic initiatives under the Wike-led FCT Administration aimed at transforming Abuja into a modern, well-planned, and investor-friendly city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Thursday flagged off the construction of the N2 Transit Way, a key project designed to link Abuja\u2019s Central Area with the Wuse District.
