{"id":76008,"date":"2025-10-02T13:49:18","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T13:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=76008"},"modified":"2025-10-02T13:49:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T13:49:18","slug":"lagos-unveils-traffic-diversion-plan-ahead-of-africas-first-electric-powerboat-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/10\/02\/lagos-unveils-traffic-diversion-plan-ahead-of-africas-first-electric-powerboat-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Unveils Traffic Diversion Plan Ahead of Africa\u2019s First Electric Powerboat Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Lagos State Government has announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan ahead of Africa\u2019s first-ever electric powerboat race, the prestigious E1 Series, scheduled to hold on the Victoria Island Lagoon from Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Transportation confirmed that during the three-day championship, there will be a full closure of the First Lekki Junction road leading to Ozumba Mbadiwe Street.<\/p>\n<p>To ease movement, motorists have been directed to use designated alternative routes.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers coming from Ajah toward Lekki are advised to make a U-turn at the First Lekki Junction pedestrian bridge, then link Yesufu Abiodun, Maroko Police Station, City of David, Ligali Ayorinde, and Ajose Adeogun to reach Eko Hotel Roundabout, Ahmadu Bello Way, Independence Bridge, and Onikan.<\/p>\n<p>Those heading from Ajah to CMS can use Abraham Adesanya through Ogombo Road, Okun Ajah Road, and the Coastal Road to connect to Ahmadu Bello Way and Independence Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists from Lekki going to Ikoyi or the Mainland are advised to take Admiralty Way and cross via the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge to Alexander Road, Bourdillon Way, Gerrard Road, and Osborne Road.<\/p>\n<p>Travelers to CMS can also use Yesufu Abiodun, Oniru Road, Aboyade Cole Road, and Ligali Ayorinde to connect to Eko Hotel Roundabout.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, motorists coming from CMS or the Independence Bridge along Ozumba Mbadiwe toward the Lekki-Epe Expressway will have uninterrupted access to Ajah and adjoining areas.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, assured residents and visitors of adequate parking at designated locations including Fidelity Bank, Access Bank, and the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island.<\/p>\n<p>He also confirmed that the Coastal Road will remain open to commuters throughout the event.<\/p>\n<p>Osiyemi appealed for public cooperation, urging motorists to comply with Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), officials who will be deployed across key routes to ensure order.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that the traffic measures form part of the government\u2019s broader strategy on transportation and crowd control as Lagos hosts this landmark global sporting event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adenike Lawal &nbsp; The Lagos State Government has announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan ahead of Africa\u2019s first-ever electric powerboat race, the prestigious E1 Series, scheduled to hold on the Victoria Island Lagoon from Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5, 2025.
