Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has flagged off the construction of the Arterial Road S1 with a three-span bridge linking Ring Road II to the FCT Fire Service Station in Kaura District, Abuja.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Wike said the strategic road would enhance emergency response by the Fire Service and open Kaura District to development.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will help the fire service station in case of emergencies. By the time this road is constructed with a three-span bridge, anywhere there is any fire incident and they are called upon, they will respond immediately,\u201d the Minister stated.<\/p>\n
Wike also linked the ongoing expansion of road infrastructure in Abuja to Nigeria\u2019s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n
According to him, \u201cWhen the Committee comes and sees that the basic infrastructure is being provided, that gives us the leverage to be given the hosting rights of the Games.\u201d<\/p>\n
He expressed confidence that the contractor, Infiouest Construction Company, would deliver a quality project and urged the firm to provide opportunities for youth participation in the construction process.<\/p>\n
The Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, in her remarks, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his vision in providing infrastructure that directly impacts citizens\u2019 lives, while reiterating the administration\u2019s determination to transform Abuja into a world-class city.<\/p>\n
Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, disclosed that the 2.4km project includes asphalt-paved roads, a three-span bridge, drainage systems, and erosion control measures.<\/p>\n
He noted that the project would also create direct and indirect jobs.<\/p>\n
Managing Director of Infiouest Construction Company, Mr. Joseph Abujaoude, pledged timely delivery of the project in line with global standards.<\/p>\n
Wike emphasized that under President Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda, Abuja would compete with some of the world\u2019s most developed cities by the end of his first tenure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
