{"id":75865,"date":"2025-09-30T05:47:40","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T05:47:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=75865"},"modified":"2025-09-30T05:47:40","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T05:47:40","slug":"kidnappers-demand-%e2%82%a640m-for-lawyer-sister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/09\/30\/kidnappers-demand-%e2%82%a640m-for-lawyer-sister\/","title":{"rendered":"Kidnappers Demand \u20a640m for Lawyer, Sister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kidnappers of a newly called-to-the-bar lawyer, Peace Onyesom, and her sister, Gift, are demanding \u20a640 million for their release.<\/p>\n<p>The sisters were abducted along the Okene-Auchi road on Friday while returning to Benin from the Call-to-the-Bar ceremony of September 23.<\/p>\n<p>Their sister, Adaeze Onyesom, confirmed the demand on Sunday, saying the kidnappers initially asked for \u20a6100 million before reducing it to \u20a640 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey allowed us to speak with Peace and Gift. They were crying and begging us to raise the money,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The family has begun selling property to raise funds, while pleading with the Federal Government and security agencies for urgent intervention.<\/p>\n<p>Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin announced that eight of the 12 abducted persons along the same route had been rescued by joint police and military operations.
