{"id":75853,"date":"2025-09-29T08:58:04","date_gmt":"2025-09-29T08:58:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=75853"},"modified":"2025-09-29T08:58:04","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T08:58:04","slug":"abuja-kaduna-train-service-resumes-oct-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/09\/29\/abuja-kaduna-train-service-resumes-oct-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Abuja-Kaduna Train Service Resumes Oct. 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), will resume passenger operations on the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, weeks after suspension following the August 26 derailment.<\/p>\n<p>NRC\u2019s Chief Public Relations Officer, Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday in Lagos, noting that safety, technical, and operational checks had been completed to ensure secure and reliable services.<\/p>\n<p>Unyimadu disclosed that of the 583 passengers listed on the manifest of the affected train, 530 were contacted, while 512 received refunds.<\/p>\n<p>All 22 injured passengers were also reached, treated, and offered free weekly rides until December 31, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, all 618 people on board during the derailment, including staff, will enjoy one free ride before the year ends.<\/p>\n<p>He thanked passengers for their patience during the suspension and assured that measures have been put in place to prevent future incidents linked to human error, excessive speeding, and braking issues.<\/p>\n<p>The NRC also released an updated timetable for the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onilede Titi Faith &nbsp; The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), will resume passenger operations on the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, weeks after suspension following the August 26 derailment.
