Cosmos Akighir, has reaffirmed the Federal Government\u2019s commitment to expanding economic opportunities in Benue State and the North Central region.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a thanksgiving service held in his honour at the NKST Church, Buruku Local Government Area, Akighir said the ongoing construction of the River Buruku Bridge was a deliberate intervention by President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration to empower communities and ease hardship by boosting trade and connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>He pledged to transform the Buruku riverbank into a hub for travellers and economic activities that will enhance livelihoods and attract investments.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the commission will also partner with the Ministry of Water Resources to develop a comprehensive programme that promotes tourism, generates revenue, and opens up the region for greater business opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Akighir further assured residents of his commitment to providing link roads and electrifying rural communities in Buruku and its environs.<\/p>\n<p>He called on citizens to support the Federal Government\u2019s policies, stressing that collective backing was essential to improving lives across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The NCDC chairman expressed gratitude to the church for its prayers and appreciated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, for the opportunity to serve.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged support for the SGF, noting that such backing would strengthen President Tinubu\u2019s chances of securing a second term.<\/p>\n<p>After the service, Akighir visited several communities in Buruku LGA, where he assured residents of more development projects.<\/p>\n<p>He had earlier attended another thanksgiving service at NKST Daudu in Guma LGA, organised by Alhaji Stephen Tsav, the North Central representative on the board of the North-East Development Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Both thanksgiving services were attended by dignitaries, elder statesmen, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n<p>As part of his interventions, Akighir and his team donated N22.2 million to support the development of the NKST church.<\/p>\n<p>He reiterated that his priorities as NCDC chairman would focus on healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure development, and security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Bridget Tikyaa The Chairman of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Barr.
