{"id":75493,"date":"2025-09-22T14:47:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T14:47:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=75493"},"modified":"2025-09-22T14:47:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T14:47:17","slug":"natashas-trial-stalled-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/09\/22\/natashas-trial-stalled-in-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"Natasha\u2019s Trial Stalled in Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Anifowoshe Oladipupo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The trial of suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on cybercrime charges was stalled on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeding was adjourned after her lawyer, Ehiogie West Idahosa, SAN, raised a preliminary objection challenging the court\u2019s jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was granted bail on self-recognition on June 30, faces a six-count charge under the Cybercrimes (Amendment) Act, 2024. The Federal Government, through the Director of Public Prosecution, Mohammed Abubakar, alleges she transmitted false and harmful information.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, she is accused of claiming on April 4, 2025, in Ihima, Kogi State, that Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed former Governor Yahaya Bello to have her killed.<\/p>\n<p>Although the prosecution announced readiness to call its first witness, Justice Mohammed Umar ruled that the defense\u2019s objection must be heard before the trial could proceed.<\/p>\n<p>The matter was adjourned to October 20, 2025, for hearing of the objection and possible commencement of trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Anifowoshe Oladipupo The trial of suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on cybercrime charges was stalled on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
