{"id":75382,"date":"2025-09-12T04:42:58","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T04:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=75382"},"modified":"2025-09-12T04:42:58","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T04:42:58","slug":"fg-arraigns-plateau-man-on-terrorism-firearms-charges-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/09\/12\/fg-arraigns-plateau-man-on-terrorism-firearms-charges-in-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Arraigns Plateau Man on Terrorism, Firearms Charges in Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government on Thursday arraigned a 27-year-old man, Huzaifa Haruna, also known as Huzaifa Dogo, before the Federal High Court in Abuja on terrorism and firearms charges.<\/p>\n<p>Haruna, from Dogo village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, was brought to court from custody by the State Security Service (SSS), and appeared before Justice Emeka Nwite.<\/p>\n<p>His arraignment followed that of two Ansaru commanders, Mahmud Muhammed Usman (alias Abu Bara\u2019a or Abbas Mukhtar) and his deputy, Abubakar Abba, who were charged earlier the same day.<\/p>\n<p>In a five-count charge filed on September 2 by the Director of Public Prosecutions at the Federal Ministry of Justice, M.B. Abubakar, Haruna was accused of concealing information on arms dealers, transporting assault rifles, and supporting terrorist operations.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors alleged that between August 28 and 30, 2025, he withheld information about suspected arms suppliers, kidnappers, and bandits identified as Alhaji Hamza and Wakili Julde.<\/p>\n<p>He was further accused of transporting seven M-16 rifles and empty magazines in a green Opel Vectra, which were allegedly destined for Wase Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>The charges also claimed that Haruna was found in possession of the weapons without a licence near the NYSC Orientation Camp in Mangu LGA on August 30, and that he had earlier conveyed five M-16 rifles from Dogo village to Wakili Julde in March 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said the offences contravened the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and the Firearms Act, 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Haruna pleaded not guilty.
