The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has summoned domestic airlines to a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday to address growing concerns over flight disruptions, compensation disputes, and poor passenger handling.<\/p>\n
NCAA spokesperson, Michael Achimugu, announced the meeting on his verified X handle, noting that discussions will cover refund and compensation issues, unruly passenger behaviour, crew protection, the use of RFID bagtags and flight monitoring technology, and stricter enforcement of safety rules.<\/p>\n
The move follows fresh directives from the Federal Government instructing NCAA to begin naming and shaming airlines responsible for prolonged delays and cancellations.<\/p>\n
Achimugu reminded operators that regulations require them to provide hotel accommodation for passengers stranded overnight.<\/p>\n
He warned carriers against abandoning stranded travellers and leaving NCAA officials to manage irate crowds, stressing that violations will attract sanctions.<\/p>\n
While acknowledging operational challenges, he said airlines must uphold service standards to remain competitive and retain public trust.<\/p>\n
The NCAA reaffirmed its commitment to fully enforce aviation regulations in line with the directives of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
