Nigerian students are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence for academic support, with Google reporting a 200% surge in searches combining \u201cAI + studying\u201d compared with 2024.<\/p>\n
The data, released Tuesday as schools reopened, showed AI-related searches hit an all-time high in 2025, rising 60% in the past year.<\/p>\n
Students are seeking AI tutors, free tools, and prompts across subjects. Searches for \u201cAI + chemistry\u201d grew 50%, \u201cAI + maths\u201d and \u201cAI + languages\u201d rose 30% each, while queries linking AI to grammar increased 20%.<\/p>\n
Popular questions included: \u201cWhat is the best AI in the world for solving mathematical problems?\u201d and \u201cHow to use AI to solve math problems?\u201d<\/p>\n
Google\u2019s West Africa Director, Olumide Balogun, said the trend shows learners are embracing AI not just for answers but to grasp complex topics.<\/p>\n
He reaffirmed Google\u2019s commitment to providing tools that empower Nigerian students to succeed.<\/p>\n
General interest in AI has also expanded, with searches for \u201chow to use AI\u201d and \u201cwhat is the full meaning of AI\u201d up 80%, and \u201cwho is the father of AI\u201d up 70%. Queries for \u201cAI detection\u201d spiked 290%, reflecting concerns about responsible use and academic integrity.<\/p>\n
