{"id":75192,"date":"2025-09-08T16:00:40","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T16:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=75192"},"modified":"2025-09-08T16:00:40","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T16:00:40","slug":"nupeng-strike-halts-fuel-supply-nationwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/09\/08\/nupeng-strike-halts-fuel-supply-nationwide\/","title":{"rendered":"NUPENG Strike Halts Fuel Supply Nationwide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Petrol distribution across Nigeria was disrupted on Monday, September 8, as the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), began a nationwide strike over alleged anti-labour practices by Dangote Refinery.<\/p>\n<p>NUPENG President, Comrade Williams Akporeha, said over 250,000 drivers risk losing their jobs in what the union described as an attempt to blacklist members.<\/p>\n<p>He dismissed rival associations as \u201cpropaganda fronts\u201d and denied rumours of plans to damage Dangote\u2019s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), trucks.<\/p>\n<p>A mediation meeting with the Minister of Labour, Muhammad Dingyadi, was scheduled for Monday afternoon. Akporeha stressed the strike was not meant to sabotage the economy but to defend workers\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n<p>The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), urged dialogue and warned against price hikes.
