The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has declared Prince Christopher Enweremadu, former Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, wanted over alleged involvement in a \u20a62 billion fraud.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency described Enweremadu as a person of interest in an ongoing investigation into criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, and money laundering.<\/p>\n
The notice listed his last known address as the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Umuahia.<\/p>\n
The development follows a December 2024 order by a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, which directed the EFCC to probe allocations to Abia\u2019s 17 local government areas between 2019 and 2023.<\/p>\n
The court also ordered the seizure of the international passports of Enweremadu and two other former state officials.<\/p>\n
Enweremadu, who served under ex-Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has faced persistent scrutiny over alleged mismanagement of council funds.<\/p>\n
The EFCC has urged members of the public with information on his whereabouts to report to any of its zonal offices nationwide.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
