Pakistan\u2019s High Commissioner to Nigeria, retired Maj.-Gen. Sohail Khan, has restated his country\u2019s commitment to global peace and stronger bilateral ties with Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a reception in Abuja to mark Pakistan\u2019s National and Defence Day, Khan described Pakistan as a \u201creliable partner in counter-terrorism\u201d and a voice for justice in regions like Kashmir and Palestine.<\/p>\n
He noted Pakistan\u2019s contributions to UN peacekeeping, with over 200,000 troops deployed since 1960.<\/p>\n
The envoy highlighted Pakistan\u2019s strengths in agriculture and industry, citing its leading production of cotton, rice, wheat, sugarcane, mangoes, and sports goods.<\/p>\n
He also pointed to its natural endowments, including K2, the world\u2019s second-highest peak.<\/p>\n
Khan paid tribute to Pakistan\u2019s armed forces, ranked 12th globally in the 2025 Global Firepower Index, stressing their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.<\/p>\n
On relations with Nigeria, he described the partnership as one built on \u201cbrotherhood, trust, and strategic cooperation,\u201d noting growing trade and deeper defence collaboration.<\/p>\n
