{"id":74806,"date":"2025-09-02T16:33:28","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T16:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=74806"},"modified":"2025-09-02T16:33:28","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T16:33:28","slug":"diri-appoints-sawyer-as-bayelsa-head-of-civil-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/09\/02\/diri-appoints-sawyer-as-bayelsa-head-of-civil-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Diri Appoints Sawyer as Bayelsa Head of Civil Service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/p>\n<p>Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has appointed Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer as the new Head of the State Civil Service.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment was announced in a statement by the Governor\u2019s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, on Tuesday in Yenagoa.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sawyer, who until now was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, succeeds Mrs. Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema, who retired on August 31.<\/p>\n<p>Born on May 14, 1970, in Odi, Kolokuma\/Opokuma Local Government Area, Sawyer joined the state civil service in 1998 as a medical officer.<\/p>\n<p>He earned his MBBS degree from the University of Port Harcourt in 1996, a Master\u2019s in Public Health from the University of Lagos in 2000, and a Fellowship in Public Health from the National Post-Graduate Medical College in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>He has completed his dissertation for a PhD in Clinical Sciences and Public Health at the Niger Delta University and is a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onilede Titi Faith Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has appointed Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer as the new Head of the State Civil Service.
