{"id":74791,"date":"2025-09-02T10:50:26","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T10:50:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=74791"},"modified":"2025-09-02T10:50:26","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T10:50:26","slug":"pdp-no-grounds-yet-to-sanction-wike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/09\/02\/pdp-no-grounds-yet-to-sanction-wike\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP: No Grounds Yet to Sanction Wike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Merciful Omoba<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has clarified that its former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, cannot face disciplinary action for alleged anti-party activities without a formal petition backed by evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The party\u2019s Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha, explained in Abuja on Monday that although a disciplinary committee headed by elder statesman Chief Tom Ikimi, with Eyitayo Jegede as secretary, has been set up, no member has been sanctioned because no official complaints have been filed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople often ask me about the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, why don\u2019t we discipline him? Why don\u2019t we take action? I tell them: it is not enough to merely say someone has committed an offence,\u201d Osuoha said.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that any accuser must file a petition, be ready to testify, and present evidence when the accused is summoned.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the difficulty of enforcing discipline is not peculiar to the PDP but reflects wider institutional challenges in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the same problem with our Nigerian system.
