{"id":74695,"date":"2025-09-01T09:49:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T09:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=74695"},"modified":"2025-09-01T09:49:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T09:49:12","slug":"fg-completes-review-of-school-curricula-to-prepare-learners-for-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/09\/01\/fg-completes-review-of-school-curricula-to-prepare-learners-for-future\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Completes Review of School Curricula to Prepare Learners for Future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government has completed a review of curricula for basic, senior secondary, and technical education to equip Nigerian students with practical skills for global competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, announced the revised curricula in Abuja on behalf of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa.<\/p>\n<p>She said the exercise, carried out with key agencies including NERDC, UBEC, and NBTE, was designed to reduce content overload, improve outcomes, and promote deeper learning.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new structure, pupils in Primary 1-3 will study 9-10 subjects; Primary 4-6, 10-12 subjects; junior secondary, 12-14; senior secondary, 8-9; while technical students will take 9-11 subjects.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmad stressed that the reforms aim to \u201cease the burden on learners and create more learning time,\u201d while ensuring skills acquisition remains central.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry said rollout would be gradual and closely monitored.
