Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged public office holders across the country to embrace service that leaves behind enduring legacies for generations to come.<\/p>\n

Akpabio made the call on Saturday at the funeral service of the late Abom Emmanuel Eno Peter Umana, a former Commissioner for Trade and Industries in the old Cross River State.<\/p>\n

The service was held at the Catholic Church Assumption Parish, Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.<\/p>\n

Paying tribute to the late statesman, Akpabio described Umana as \u201ca man who devoted his life to the service of his people and left indelible marks that still speak today.\u201d<\/p>\n

He noted that Umana\u2019s contributions as a public officer remain a reference point in Essien Udim and Akwa Ibom at large.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a public officer, Pa Umana left behind legacies which have become points of reference for his people.<\/p>\n

“That is why I call on leaders to put smiles on the faces of those they serve, so that when they are long gone, they will be remembered for their good works,\u201d Akpabio said.<\/p>\n

The Senate President highlighted Umana\u2019s dual impact in education and governance.<\/p>\n

As a teacher at the then College of Education, Uyo, Umana was remembered for his passion for imparting knowledge. Later, as Commissioner for Trade and Industries, his vision led to the establishment of industries such as Sunshine Batteries, Qua Steel Mills, and International Biscuits Limited, which opened new frontiers for industrial growth in the region.<\/p>\n

Akpabio also offered prayers for the repose of Umana\u2019s soul and words of comfort to the bereaved family. \u201cI beseech the comfort of the Holy Spirit for you and all who are grieving. You are not alone in this difficult moment, and I assure you of my solidarity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The service drew dignitaries, community leaders, friends, and associates who gathered to celebrate the life and contributions of the late Umana, remembered not just for his official duties but also for his selfless service to humanity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
