{"id":74413,"date":"2025-08-28T08:32:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T08:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=74413"},"modified":"2025-08-28T08:32:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T08:32:07","slug":"air-peace-to-launch-direct-flights-to-brazil-by-late-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/28\/air-peace-to-launch-direct-flights-to-brazil-by-late-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Peace to Launch Direct Flights to Brazil by Late 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Air Peace has announced plans to begin direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil in the last quarter of 2025, just days after the two countries signed a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA).<\/p>\n<p>The new route will cut travel time from 17 hours to about seven, ending years of limited connectivity since the closure of Nigeria Airways and Brazil\u2019s VARIG in the mid-2000s.<\/p>\n<p>Air Peace Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, confirmed the development at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after returning from Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>He described the direct link as a \u201cgame-changer\u201d and revealed plans to expand services across South America, including discussions with Colombia\u2019s Vice President on September 1.<\/p>\n<p>Onyema said the flights would boost business, tourism, cultural exchange, and technology transfer, while maintaining the same high-quality service and affordable fares offered on the Lagos-London route.<\/p>\n<p>He also announced that the airline\u2019s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), facility, built in partnership with Embraer, will be inaugurated on September 17, 2025, and completed within 15 months.<\/p>\n<p>Onyema praised President Bola Tinubu for supporting Nigerian entrepreneurs, noting that such initiatives would create more jobs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Omoniyi David &nbsp; Air Peace has announced plans to begin direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil in the last quarter of 2025, just days after the two countries signed a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA).
