{"id":74349,"date":"2025-08-27T12:53:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T12:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=74349"},"modified":"2025-08-27T12:53:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T12:53:10","slug":"new-investment-law-targets-%e2%82%a6300-trillion-nigerian-capital-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/27\/new-investment-law-targets-%e2%82%a6300-trillion-nigerian-capital-market\/","title":{"rendered":"New Investment Law Targets \u20a6300 Trillion Nigerian Capital Market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Anifowoshe Oladipupo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nigeria\u2019s capital market is on course for unprecedented growth, with projections to hit \u20a6300 trillion in valuation, following the enactment of the Investment and Securities Act (ISA), 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a high-level meeting in Brazil, Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. Emomotimi Agama, told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), Board that the new law provides a solid framework to transform the market.<\/p>\n<p>Signed into law by President Tinubu in April, the ISA 2025 is regarded as one of Africa\u2019s most comprehensive legal instruments for capital markets.<\/p>\n<p>It seeks to strengthen investor protection, enhance regulatory clarity, and create new opportunities for investment, while ensuring equitable wealth distribution.<\/p>\n<p>President Tinubu commended the progress already recorded, noting rising market capitalization and trading volumes as evidence of growing investor confidence.<\/p>\n<p>He reiterated his administration\u2019s commitment to reforms that will make Nigeria a prime investment destination, praising SEC and NGX leadership for driving the agenda.<\/p>\n<p>NGX Group Chairman, Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, welcomed the reforms and urged the government to accelerate the listing of major state-owned enterprises to sustain market momentum.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Anifowoshe Oladipupo &nbsp; Nigeria\u2019s capital market is on course for unprecedented growth, with projections to hit \u20a6300 trillion in valuation, following the enactment of the Investment and Securities Act (ISA), 2025.
