Opeifa also assured passengers that ticket refunds have been initiated.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Opeifa refuted claims that the trains were poorly maintained and met with some passengers at the Idu train station to provide updates on the situation.<\/p>\n<p>The NSIB has launched a formal probe into the derailment, with investigators dispatched to gather evidence and determine the cause.<\/p>\n<p>Bimbo Oladeji, NSIB\u2019s Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, said the bureau aims to conduct a \u201ctransparent and independent investigation\u201d to prevent similar incidents in the future.<\/p>\n<p>The agency\u2019s Director General, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., expressed sympathy to the victims and their families.<\/p>\n<p>President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently on a state visit to Brazil, expressed deep concern over the incident via his verified X handle, extending prayers to the injured and assuring Nigerians that prompt measures are being taken.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply saddened by this incident.
