{"id":74137,"date":"2025-08-25T12:53:38","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T12:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=74137"},"modified":"2025-08-25T12:53:38","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T12:53:38","slug":"over-1-3m-nigerians-register-online-in-first-week-of-cvr-inec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/25\/over-1-3m-nigerians-register-online-in-first-week-of-cvr-inec\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 1.3m Nigerians Register Online in First Week of CVR -INEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced that 1,379,342 Nigerians completed online pre-registration in the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), held from August 18 to 24, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>According to INEC\u2019s CVR State Pre-Registration Report, Lagos recorded the highest number with 222,205 entries (16.11%), while Osun led by percentage share with 393,269 (28.51%).<\/p>\n<p>Ogun followed with 132,823 (9.63%), the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had 107,682 (7.81%), Oyo 66,951, Kaduna 61,592, and Kogi 58,546. Kwara, Kebbi and Yobe also recorded 33,726; 35,009; and 34,888 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the South-South, Delta registered 24,421; Rivers 11,314; Akwa Ibom 12,373; Cross River 4,055; Bayelsa 4,638; and Edo 2,875, while Ondo posted 3,426. Borno topped the North-East with 21,045, followed by Bauchi 13,066; Gombe 4,103; Taraba 2,395; and Adamawa 2,155. Yobe stood out in the zone with 34,888.<\/p>\n<p>For the North-West, Kaduna led with 61,592, while Kano had 10,166; Katsina 11,004; Jigawa 8,243; Kebbi 35,009; Sokoto 12,478; and Zamfara 2,947.<\/p>\n<p>In the North-Central, Niger posted 24,818; Nasarawa 11,555; Plateau 6,586; and Benue 7,305, with Kogi also ranking among the top states.<\/p>\n<p>The South-East recorded the lowest turnout: Ebonyi 261, Enugu 484, Imo 481 and Abia 772. Anambra was not listed separately.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, INEC announced that the physical phase of the CVR commenced nationwide today at 811 centres across the 774 LGAs and state offices. Both new applicants and those who pre-registered online are required to appear for biometric capture.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise also accommodates transfer of voter registration, replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, and updating of personal information.<\/p>\n<p>Registration will run Mondays to Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and is open only to Nigerian citizens aged 18 and above who have never registered.<\/p>\n<p>INEC assured that provisions have been made for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
