{"id":73943,"date":"2025-08-22T22:52:36","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T22:52:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=73943"},"modified":"2025-08-22T22:52:36","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T22:52:36","slug":"tinubu-urges-nigerians-to-try-new-personal-income-tax-calculator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/22\/tinubu-urges-nigerians-to-try-new-personal-income-tax-calculator\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Try New Personal Income Tax Calculator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to test a newly introduced Personal Income Tax (PIT), calculator, developed to help citizens estimate their tax obligations under recently signed reform laws.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on his official X handle on Friday, Tinubu said the tool allows users to compare current tax payments with what they will owe when the reforms take effect in January 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The President explained that the reforms are designed to build a fairer and more transparent system that shields low-income earners from undue hardship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the new tax laws, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu noted that the calculator demonstrates how the reforms protect low-income workers, promote progressivity, and simplify compliance.<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged Nigerians to embrace the changes and remain hopeful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether, we are renewing hope in the Nigeria of our dreams. Take a bet on our country.
