The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, says 897 patients have so far benefited from the federal government\u2019s subsidised kidney dialysis programme at N12,000 per session.<\/p>\n
ATBUTH spokesman Usman Koli clarified on Wednesday that the hospital\u2019s omission from the earlier list of centres offering the service was an oversight, adding that the intervention has been running since January 8, 2025.<\/p>\n
He said the subsidy covers all consumables, easing the financial burden on patients across the North-East and neighbouring states.<\/p>\n
Koli also highlighted other government-backed health initiatives at ATBUTH, including free Caesarean sections for mothers and newborns, with over 1,000 beneficiaries since November 2024, and the National Emergency Medical Service scheme, which has provided free 48-hour emergency care to more than 500 patients.<\/p>\n
He reaffirmed the hospital\u2019s commitment to the \u201cRenewed Hope\u201d healthcare agenda, stressing that ATBUTH remains an active partner in expanding access to affordable care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
