{"id":73765,"date":"2025-08-20T14:23:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T14:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=73765"},"modified":"2025-08-20T14:23:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T14:23:09","slug":"naira-marley-breaks-silence-on-mohbads-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/20\/naira-marley-breaks-silence-on-mohbads-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Naira Marley Breaks Silence on Mohbad\u2019s Death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nigerian singer Naira Marley has recounted his side of the story surrounding the death of his former artist, Mohbad, in a two-hour documentary released on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Marley said Mohbad\u2019s journey with Marlian Music started with promise but later soured over financial disagreements.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that in June 2020, he discovered Mohbad was using a substance called \u201cIce\u201d and advised him to stop due to its harmful effects.<\/p>\n<p>Marley emphasized transparency in their business dealings, noting a 50-50 profit-sharing agreement, and presented evidence of Mohbad\u2019s hospital visit in November 2020 to counter claims that the singer feared medical facilities.<\/p>\n<p>He also addressed the February 24, 2022, NDLEA incident, when Mohbad was questioned following a scuffle with officers, after which Mohbad reportedly limited visits to Marlian House.<\/p>\n<p>Marley said he supported Mohbad by covering medical costs.<\/p>\n<p>On March 27, 2022, Mohbad attempted suicide, which Marley attributed to mental health struggles.<\/p>\n<p>He also discussed Mohbad\u2019s online search for a lethal insecticide with the singer and his parents.<\/p>\n<p>The relationship worsened after Mohbad became intoxicated and clashed with his manager, later accusing Marley on Twitter of threatening his life.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2022, Mohbad\u2019s lawyer formally notified Marlian Music of his intent to leave the label, with Marley providing payment logs to demonstrate financial transparency.<\/p>\n<p>Marley claimed Mohbad later withdrew $72,000 from a DSP partner, which he believed was not rightfully Mohbad\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>He said he lost contact with Mohbad after October 4, 2022, the last time they met, and was in Amsterdam when Mohbad passed away.<\/p>\n<p>Marley expressed confusion over allegations linking him to Mohbad\u2019s death, stressing that those with Mohbad in his final hours have not been questioned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Huldah Shado &nbsp; Nigerian singer Naira Marley has recounted his side of the story surrounding the death of his former artist, Mohbad, in a two-hour documentary released on Wednesday.
