{"id":73729,"date":"2025-08-20T12:57:52","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T12:57:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=73729"},"modified":"2025-08-20T12:57:52","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T12:57:52","slug":"apc-ogun-suspends-ex-governor-gbenga-daniel-ally-over-alleged-anti-party-acts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/20\/apc-ogun-suspends-ex-governor-gbenga-daniel-ally-over-alleged-anti-party-acts\/","title":{"rendered":"APC Ogun Suspends Ex-Governor Gbenga Daniel, Ally Over Alleged Anti-Party Acts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ogun State has suspended former governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, alongside his ally, Kunle Folarin, over allegations of anti-party misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>The suspension was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday by the party\u2019s Director of Publicity in the state, Nuberu Olufemi, who said the decision was reached at a State Working Committee (SWC), meeting chaired by the state chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel, from Ward 4, Sagamu Local Government Area, and Folarin, from Ward 6 in the same LGA, were indicted following reports from ward-level disciplinary committees set up to investigate petitions against them.<\/p>\n<p>According to Olufemi, both men were formally invited to appear before the committees but failed to honour the summons or submit a written defence.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read in part: \u201cWard 4, Sagamu Local Government set up a disciplinary committee on the alleged misconduct bordering on anti-party activities committed by Senator Gbenga Daniel. Similarly, Ward 6, Sagamu Local Government set up a disciplinary committee on allegations of gross misconduct and anti-party activities allegedly committed by Hon. Kunle Folarin. They were invited in writing to appear and present their defence or seek pardon from the party. However, both members failed to respond, failed to provide a written defence, and failed to attend the disciplinary meetings at which they were to be heard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The committees also accused the suspended members of intimidating party faithful, obstructing investigations, and pressuring some members to withdraw their petitions.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the SWC ratified the committees\u2019 recommendations, placing both Daniel and Folarin on indefinite suspension pending further investigations.<\/p>\n<p>Olufemi stressed that the move was aimed at protecting the integrity of the disciplinary process and upholding the party\u2019s constitution, adding that APC remains committed to enforcing discipline within its ranks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onilede Titi Faith &nbsp; The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ogun State has suspended former governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, alongside his ally, Kunle Folarin, over allegations of anti-party misconduct.
