{"id":73723,"date":"2025-08-20T12:53:01","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T12:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=73723"},"modified":"2025-08-20T12:53:01","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T12:53:01","slug":"presidential-aide-faults-wike-over-mounting-refuse-in-abuja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/20\/presidential-aide-faults-wike-over-mounting-refuse-in-abuja\/","title":{"rendered":"Presidential Aide Faults Wike Over Mounting Refuse in Abuja"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tope Fasua, economist and Special Adviser to the President, has expressed concern over the growing waste management crisis in Abuja, urging the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to act swiftly before the city becomes overwhelmed.<\/p>\n<p>In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Fasua shared images of refuse heaps littering Abuja streets, describing the situation as a major environmental hazard.<\/p>\n<p>He appealed directly to the FCT Minister, writing: \u201cUncle Wike, kindly help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fasua acknowledged infrastructure improvements recorded under Wike\u2019s leadership but warned that the unchecked waste problem risks overshadowing those achievements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApparently, a waste management crisis is riding on the achievements of Mr Wike on infrastructure in Abuja. Something is breaking,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>He condemned indiscriminate dumping of refuse, particularly at unauthorized locations, citing LifeCamp roundabout, Gwarimpa along the Kubwa Expressway, and a large dump in Wuse 2\/Utako as critical hotspots.
