{"id":73365,"date":"2025-08-16T10:49:58","date_gmt":"2025-08-16T10:49:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=73365"},"modified":"2025-08-16T10:49:58","modified_gmt":"2025-08-16T10:49:58","slug":"ibom-air-row-lawyer-sues-fg-ncaa-others-for-n500bn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/16\/ibom-air-row-lawyer-sues-fg-ncaa-others-for-n500bn\/","title":{"rendered":"Ibom Air Row: Lawyer Sues FG, NCAA, Others for N500bn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Public interest lawyer Ayodele Ademiluyi has filed a \u20a6500 billion lawsuit against the Federal Government, aviation regulators, airlines, and other parties over alleged impunity and double standards in Nigeria\u2019s aviation sector.<\/p>\n<p>The suit, lodged at the Federal High Court in Lagos (FHC\/L\/CS\/1632\/25), lists President Bola Tinubu, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo (SAN), the NCAA, FAAN, Ibom Air, ValueJet, the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Governor and Attorney-General of Akwa Ibom State, the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), and Fuji icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (Kwam 1) among the respondents.<\/p>\n<p>Ademiluyi said the case exposes \u201cdeep-rooted rot\u201d in aviation administration.<\/p>\n<p>He cited two incidents: the swift sanction of passenger Comfort Emmanson, initially handed a life ban by AON (later rescinded), and the alleged disruption of flight operations by Kwam 1, who faced no sanctions but was later appointed a brand ambassador.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is alarming that someone accused of obstructing a flight escaped consequences but was celebrated with an ambassadorship. What message does this send about accountability?\u201d Ademiluyi asked.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer accused Minister Keyamo of acting as a \u201cspokesperson\u201d for airlines instead of enforcing the law.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the court to compel a proper investigation and prosecution, especially in Kwam 1\u2019s case, arguing that AON exceeded its powers by acting as \u201ccomplainant, prosecutor, and judge\u201d against Emmanson.<\/p>\n<p>Ademiluyi stressed that the suit is not only about compensation but a symbolic demand to protect the rule of law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo individual, regardless of status, is above the law.
