Students from Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State, took to the streets on Tuesday to protest against the escalating attacks on their off-campus hostels by suspected armed robbers and cultists.<\/p>\n
In a display of frustration and concern, the students gathered on campus, brandishing placards with various inscriptions. Some students revealed to the media that the recent wave of violence had resulted in the tragic deaths of at least two students in the past few days.<\/p>\n
The students shared harrowing accounts of armed men invading their hostels at night, robbing them of their phones, money, and other possessions. Shockingly, reports indicated that the criminals had not only stolen from the students but had also committed heinous acts, including sexual assault.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey raped some girls and even beat them on Sunday. We can no longer sleep with eyes closed. These criminals will come to take our belongings and even force themselves on girls. It is getting too much. This must not continue,\u201d the students chanted, highlighting the urgent need for intervention.<\/p>\n
Disturbing images circulated on social media showed the lifeless body of a murdered student lying on the floor, with four others bearing injuries receiving medical attention in what appeared to be a hospital setting.
