{"id":73269,"date":"2025-08-15T12:37:36","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T12:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=73269"},"modified":"2025-08-15T12:37:36","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T12:37:36","slug":"apc-eyes-sweep-of-rivers-lg-polls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/15\/apc-eyes-sweep-of-rivers-lg-polls\/","title":{"rendered":"APC Eyes Sweep of Rivers LG Polls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The All Progressives Congress (APC), says it is poised to win all 23 local government areas in the August 30 council elections in Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>At the party\u2019s campaign flag-off at Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, APC National Vice Chairman (South South), Chief Victor Giadom, represented by Senator Magnus Abe, declared the party \u201cunited, stronger, and ready\u201d to deliver President Bola Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots.<\/p>\n<p>He praised State Chairman Chief Tony Okocha for fostering unity and lauded the smooth primary that produced the party\u2019s candidates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe APC in Rivers State is strong\u2026 Looking at this crowd, the election is a no contest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Presenting flags to candidates, Okocha dismissed the last council polls under suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara as a \u201ccharade\u201d the APC boycotted, but said the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission has now ensured credible processes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not just testing the waters on August 30, we will contest and win in all 23 LGAs and 319 wards,\u201d Okocha declared, while commending FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for rallying support for Tinubu\u2019s 2027 re-election.<\/p>\n<p>He urged candidates to run peaceful campaigns, stressing that the APC is \u201cnot a violent party\u201d but is now \u201ctaking the lead in Rivers politics.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Omoniyi David The All Progressives Congress (APC), says it is poised to win all 23 local government areas in the August 30 council elections in Rivers State.
