{"id":73250,"date":"2025-08-15T06:51:40","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T06:51:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=73250"},"modified":"2025-08-15T06:51:40","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T06:51:40","slug":"pcngi-donates-four-hybrid-cng-buses-to-fcta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/15\/pcngi-donates-four-hybrid-cng-buses-to-fcta\/","title":{"rendered":"PCNGI Donates Four Hybrid CNG Buses to FCTA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has taken delivery of four 50-seater hybrid buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and diesel, generously donated by the Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGI).<\/p>\n<p>The handover marks a significant step forward in efforts to invigorate Abuja\u2019s public transportation system.<\/p>\n<p>The keys to the new buses were received by Chinedu Elechi, FCT Transport Secretary, who spoke on behalf of Minister Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing gratitude, Elechi described the gift as \u201ca welcome development\u201d and emphasized its critical role in easing daily commutes across the capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese buses will complement our ongoing efforts to reposition public transportation in the FCT,\u201d he said. \u201cThey can carry more than 200 people at a time, serving those who rely on or choose public transit.\u201d He added, \u201cNo modern city can survive without a robust public transport system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PCNGI\u2019s Program Director and CEO, Michael Oluwagbemi, reinforced the significance of the donation, noting the initiative\u2019s mandate to promote CNG and electric vehicle adoption for mass transport.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our goal is to drive cost savings, job creation, improved energy security, and greener transport solutions,&#8221; he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2023, the Presidential CNG Initiative is a high-profile federal program designed to fast-track the use of cleaner mobility solutions in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Oluwagbemi praised Abuja\u2019s commitment to transportation infrastructure development, citing its newly built roads and terminals as backing for this gesture.<\/p>\n<p>With this gift, the FCTA now has a new asset to anchor its transportation reform strategy.<\/p>\n<p>As the city builds out its infrastructure, these hybrid buses are expected to lay the groundwork for a more efficient, sustainable, and inclusive transit network in the capital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has taken delivery of four 50-seater hybrid buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and diesel, generously donated by the Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGI).
