By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new officers for key positions in federal universities across the country.<\/p>\n Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye has been named a member of the governing council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, while Chisom Obih joins the council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State.<\/p>\n The announcement, made on Tuesday by the President\u2019s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, noted that Akinfeleye, former Head of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos chairs the Centre of Excellence in Multimedia and Cinematography, as well as Unilag Radio 103.1 FM and Television.<\/p>\n A former governing council member of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, he replaces Wahab Owokoniran, now Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Federal University of Transport, Daura, Katsina State.<\/p>\n In Zamfara State, Prof. Ibrahim Yakasai has been appointed Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe.<\/p>\n Other appointees include Hamisu Yusuf Yelwa (Registrar), Usman Nakazalle Sanusi (Bursar), and Dr. Shehu Aminu Liman (Librarian).<\/p>\n Yakasai, a retired Army Colonel and Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Bayero University, Kano, also chairs the Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Medicine in Nigeria and serves on the governing council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State.<\/p>\n He holds an MBBS from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; a fellowship from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK); a Master\u2019s in Medical Education from the University of Winchester; and fellowships from the International College of Surgeons (USA), and the American College of Surgeons.<\/p>\n Yakasai previously served as Director-General of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Omoniyi David President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new officers for key positions in federal universities across the country.
