By Oso Abidemi and Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced plans to collaborate with Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as Kwam 1, and appoint him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol.<\/p>\n The move follows a decision by aviation authorities to reduce the one-year flight ban previously imposed on the musician to a one-month suspension, after he demonstrated public remorse over an incident involving ValueJet staff.<\/p>\n In a statement on Wednesday, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, said the Federal Government had resolved to address recent high-profile disputes between airline operators, passengers, and aviation officials through a more conciliatory approach.<\/p>\n Keyamo revealed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), would also withdraw its criminal complaint against Kwam 1, while FAAN will work with him to promote awareness campaigns on acceptable conduct at airports.<\/p>\n \u201cThis collaboration aims to turn a regrettable incident into a teachable moment for the travelling public,\u201d Keyamo said. \u201cWe believe Kwam 1\u2019s influence can help in sensitizing passengers to observe security protocols.\u201d<\/p>\n The minister also confirmed that the licenses of ValueJet pilots involved in the dispute, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba, would be restored after a one-month suspension and mandatory professional re-appraisal.<\/p>\n The announcement was part of broader decisions taken on compassionate grounds, including the withdrawal of a criminal complaint against Ms. Comfort Emmanson, a passenger involved in an altercation on an Ibom Air flight.<\/p>\n Keyamo added that all aviation security personnel will undergo fresh training next week on handling disruptive passengers and de-escalating tense situations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Oso Abidemi and Patrick Idowu The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced plans to collaborate with Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as Kwam 1, and appoint him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol.
