{"id":73006,"date":"2025-08-13T17:28:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T17:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=73006"},"modified":"2025-08-13T17:28:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T17:28:07","slug":"tinubu-launches-nigerias-first-national-industrial-manpower-development-policy-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/13\/tinubu-launches-nigerias-first-national-industrial-manpower-development-policy-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Launches Nigeria\u2019s First National Industrial Manpower Development Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unveiled Nigeria\u2019s first-ever National Industrial Manpower Development Policy, aimed at bridging the gap between potential and productivity by aligning education and skills training with industry needs.<\/p>\n<p>The launch took place at the 2025 National Industrial Manpower Summit (NIMS), in Abuja, themed \u201cManpower Development: The Bridge Between Potential and Productivity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu described Nigeria\u2019s youthful population as \u201ca gift\u201d and \u201ca responsibility,\u201d stressing that human capital must be at the core of national policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuman capital, combined with infrastructure and sound policy, forms the bridge between progress and regression,\u201d Tinubu said. \u201cWe cannot afford to divest from our people because the world will not pause to wait for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He pledged swift adoption and implementation of the summit\u2019s recommendations, outlining key priorities such as: Strengthened public\u2013private collaboration, creation of an industrial skills database and sector-specific manpower roadmaps, and improved status and dignity for vocational and industrial jobs, including welders, machinists, technicians, software engineers, and factory operators.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu warned that without continuous adaptation to rapid technological change, Nigeria\u2019s workforce risks being left behind in the global economy.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, John Owan Enoh, described the policy launch as a historic turning point and announced the appointment of the country\u2019s first-ever Senior Special Assistant on Industrial Training and Development.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, called manpower development key to attracting investment, boosting industrial capacity, and driving economic growth, framing it as a central pillar of Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Labour and Employment Minister, Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, urged a shift from fragmented skills initiatives to coordinated national action in training, certification, and manpower planning.<\/p>\n<p>Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Director General, Afiz Oluwatoyin, hailed the summit as a vital platform for mobilizing resources and driving the implementation of national skills policies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; By Onilede Titi Faith President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unveiled Nigeria\u2019s first-ever National Industrial Manpower Development Policy, aimed at bridging the gap between potential and productivity by aligning education and skills training with industry needs.
